A Very Long Update...

Wednesday April 2, 2008

It has been a long time since the last update and much has happened.

Colleges and Universities are wrapping up the school year and Bound4Freedom has had the opportunity to be involved. Indiana Wesleyan, in Marion, IN, recently had a social awareness week focusing on human sex trafficking. We were invited to sell journals and tell students a little bit about us. We want to advocate for the women and children involved in human trafficking by supporting campus initiatives like social awareness week at IWU. The NotForSaleCampaign is also an organization advocating against human trafficking. The NotForSaleCampaign recently connected with us and are now selling Bound4Freedom journals on their online store. I encourage you to check out their website and inform yourself on this issue:

With local events, Krista Allen and Audrey Mattingly taught journal-making to the youth group at Park Place Church of God while they were doing a thirty-hour famine. It is always exciting when a group is willing to be involved and learn journal-making. Bound4Freedom has also been donating journals to Selah House, in Anderson. Look under projects for more information.

A couple weeks ago we had our quarterly Advising Council meeting. Our Advising Council is comprised of a group of persons who stay connected to us and offer advice and guidance in many different areas of B4F, such as missionally, ideologically, financially, and so on. This time Audrey Mattingly spoke about her recent trip to Africa. She spent two weeks in several different areas visiting the TAPP center (www.tapphope.org) and church communities. She spent some time teaching some of the women how to make journals as well. More will be coming about Audrey’s trip to Africa.

Looking to the future: Bound4Freedom is ever evolving. We recently altered our mission and vision statements and are constantly seeking ways to impact those around us in healthy ways as well as learn how to keep ourselves healthy in the process. Nevertheless, we are passionate and hopeful for the future.

There are a couple of big festivals coming up in the summer: Cornerstone and International Church of God Youth Convention. We have been to Cornerstone for a few years now and are eager to reconnect with people and to hopefully meet new persons and groups. International Youth Convention will be in San Antonio, Texas where they are expecting around 19,000 youth. We are already beginning to prepare for such big events. We need a lot of help making journals and also for people to just be excited with us.

Spring and Summer are very intense and mobile seasons. We need as much help as we can get. If you are in the Anderson area, we would love to have you around, to help make journals or just to hang out and talk with us. We appreciate all of you for the thoughts and energy you have sent our way. Thank you.
